and suddenly... the dreams started chasing me

hi, i'm your local girl scholar with big dreams. keep me accountable as i work on my first scholarly article?

my area of study

i study the first world war with a particular interest in the united states. a social historian at heart, with a particular love for the history of emotions, i am most interested in how the embodied experiences of american servicemen informed their physical, emotional, and psychological responses to traumatic events on the frontlines.

i am currently still in the research phase of this project. here are the next texts i'd like to read in order to bolster my familiarity with the historiography:

pershing's crusaders by richard faulkner
million-dollar barrage by justin prince
torchbearers of democracy by chad williams
world war i: the american soldier experience by jennifer keene
to the line of fire! by josé ramírez

for this article i'm relying heavily on memoirs and autobiographical novels to inform my understanding of the embodied experiences of the average doughboy. here are the ones i'm hoping to read next:

his time in hell by warren jackson
suddenly we didn't want to die by elton mackin (re-read)
a farewell to arms by ernest hemingway
as i saw it in the trenches by dae hinson

check in from time to time to see how we're progressing!

stay focused, friends!
